Question:
After this, we move on to a message sent to the program from Riyadh, sent by one of the female listeners who used the initials (S.M.W.K) as a code for her name. Our sister has a very long case, the summary of which is:
That her mother married another man after her father divorced her. She has a number of sons and daughters from that deceased man, and they also have a brother from their father. The summary of the case is: their mother prevented them from contacting their paternal brother. They ask: Is it permissible for them to visit that brother despite their mother's behavior?
May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Mishkat al-Masabih 3696 Therefore, it is obligatory for you to maintain family ties. A paternal brother is a close relative. If he does not deserve to be boycotted, he should be contacted through kind words, correspondence, or the telephone. If he is poor, he should be contacted through charity and kindness.
However, if he is a disbeliever, or one who openly commits open sinfulness and religious innovation; and for this reason the mother disliked that you contact him, then this has a legal basis from the perspective of boycotting. But if he is modest or good, it is obligatory not to obey her in that; because maintaining family ties is a right, and there is no obedience to a creation in disobedience to the Creator. Yes.
