The Ruling on the Hadith: (Travel far and you will find wives)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I read a saying that goes: (Travel far and you will find wives). Is it an authentic hadith? And are there other hadiths on this topic?
We ask for clarification of the correct Sunnah regarding the matter of choosing a wife.

Answer:
There is no basis for this; rather, it is better for a man to marry from among his relatives, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married from among his relatives. As for the statement of some jurists that he should marry a woman who is not a relative, this has no basis. Rather, he has the choice: if he wishes, he may marry a close relative, such as his cousin or his maternal cousin’s daughter, and if he wishes, he may marry a distant relative, and there is no harm in that. As for the statement of those who say that a non-relative is more suitable and better, this has no basis and no evidence for it. Rather, if a good close relative is available, she is more preferable because of the maintenance of family ties involved in this. However, if the non-relative is more pious and has more good, then the non-relative is better.
The point is that one should seek a righteous woman, whether she is a relative or not; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
A woman may be married for four reasons: for her property, her status. her beauty and her religion, so try to get one who is religious, may your hand be besmeared with dust.تنكح المرأة لأربع: لمالها، ولحسبها، ولجمالها، ولدينها، فاظفر بذات الدين تربت يداك
Sahih Muslim 1466
So the believer seeks a woman of good religion and good character, even if she is not among his relatives. Likewise, the wife seeks a righteous husband and inquires about him, even if he is not among her relatives. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
