The Child's Position Regarding the Parents' Mistreatment of Him

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the paragraphs of her question, she mentioned—O Shaykh—this questioner says: We daughters suffer from the injustice of our mother, and her favoring our brother over us, even though he showers them with cursing and insults, and she prays against us often.
Favoring daughters or sons over one another, O Shaykh.

Answer:
We advise you to be gentle with her, to ask Allah for her guidance, to be patient with her, and to forgive her. If what happened from her did happen, it is obligatory for the child to forgive his mother and to strive to please her—whether male or female. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says regarding the parents:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
[Al-Isra 17:23]
and lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy, and say: “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small” [Al-Isra: 23-24], and He says (Exalted and Majestic is He):
Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيْكَ إِلَيَّ الْمَصِيرُ
[Luqman: 14].
So what is prescribed for the child—whether male or female—is to strive to please his parents, to love them, to be dutiful to them, and to treat them with kindness, even if they mistreat him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him.ليس الواصل بالمكافي، ولكن الواصل الذي إذا قطعت رحمه وصلها
Sahih al-Bukhari 5991
This is the one who maintains ties of kinship. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, which deed is best? He said:
Prayer at its prescribed timeالصلاة على وقتها
It was said: Then what? He said:
Dutifulness to parentsبر الوالدين
It was said: Then what? He said:
striving in the path of Allahالجهاد في سبيل الله
Sunan Abi Dawud 2486Hasan (Al-Albani)
So he placed dutifulness to them before jihad.
So the advice for the child—whether male or female—is to strive to be dutiful to his father and mother, and to be patient with any harm that may occur. We ask Allah for guidance and success for everyone. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you and bless you, may the Shaykh be respected.
