The Ruling on the Deeds of One Who Is Lax About Hijab

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
She says: I am currently residing in the Kingdom and I am committed to the Shari'ah-prescribed hijab. But when I return, I leave off the hijab and expose my face and hands, because the whole country is in that state. Will my prayer, zakah, Hajj, and all my deeds be invalid because of this behavior? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Your deeds are not invalid. This is a sin, but your deeds—if Allah wills—are valid and not invalid. However, you have erred in being lax. Even if the people of the country are lax, you should not be lax. If the people of the country drink intoxicants, you do not drink intoxicants. If they leave off the hijab, you do not leave off the hijab. If they backbite people, you do not backbite people. If they curse people, you do not curse people. They are not a role model. The believer opposes falsehood even if he is alone. The group is the one who agrees with the truth, even if he is alone. So you must adhere to the truth and stick to it, even if you are alone, whether in hijab or in anything else. May Allah guide them all.

The presenter: Amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He reward you.
