Question:
Allah the Exalted said:
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir:60] What is your advice—may Allah reward you with good—to the Muslim who aspires to be one whose supplication is answered? And what is the best supplication, and the best times for the acceptance of supplication?

Answer:
If a believer desires his supplication to be answered, he must strive for sincerity to Allah in his supplication, submission to Allah, and bringing his heart before Allah. He must also beware of sins and consuming what is forbidden. All of these are among the causes of acceptance. He should strive to ensure that his clothing is lawful, his drink is lawful, his food is lawful, and his home is rented or purchased from lawful sources. That is, he should strive to ensure that all his transactions are in the manner that Allah has permitted, and he should distance himself from forbidden earnings. This is among the causes of acceptance.
Among the times of acceptance is when one supplicates to Allah in the last part of the night, the final third, between the adhan and the iqamah, in the depths of the night, and in prostration. All of these are times of acceptance. If one is in a state of ritual purity, facing the qiblah, raising his hands, submitting to Allah, and gathering his heart for Allah, this is also among the causes of acceptance.
So the believer seeks out the appropriate times, the appropriate state, and the appropriate supplications, and he distances himself from what Allah has forbidden in terms of earnings and sins. This is among the causes of acceptance.
As for being stained with sins, or with what is forbidden such as riba (usury or interest), stealing people's money, deception in transactions, or betrayal, all of these are among the causes of being deprived of acceptance. We ask Allah for safety.
It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: إن الله تعالى طيب، ولا يقبل إلا طيبًا، وإن الله أمر المؤمنين بما أمر به المرسلين فقال تعالى: يَا أَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحًا Indeed, Allah the Exalted is Good, and He does not accept except what is good. And Allah commanded the believers with what He commanded the messengers, so He said: O messengers, eat from the good things and do good. [Al-Mu'minun:51] وقال تعالى: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ And He said: O you who believe, eat from the good things We have provided for you. [Al-Baqarah:172].
And "good things" means: what is lawful, the thing that Allah has permitted for His servants.
He then made a mention of a person who travels widely, his hair disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord, O Lord,"ثم ذكر الرجل يطيل السفر، أشعث أغبر، يمد يديه إلى السماء، يا رب! يا رب!
Sahih Muslim 1015
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Yet his food is from the unlawful, his drink is from the unlawful, his clothing is from the unlawful, and he was nourished by the unlawful. So how can that be accepted?ومطعمه حرام، ومشربه حرام، وملبسه حرام، وغذي بالحرام، فأنى يستجاب لذلك
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2989Sahih (Darussalam)
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How will it be answered for one like this? That is, it is unlikely that it will be answered for one like this! We ask Allah for safety, because he has been stained with what is forbidden.
So it is obligatory to be cautious. It is obligatory for the Muslim to be cautious of consuming what is forbidden, of oppressing people, of stealing people's money, consuming riba (usury or interest), deception in transactions, lying in transactions, and so on, among the causes of forbidden earnings. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
