Ruling on making up prayers for one who used to leave them off occasionally

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message reached the program from one of the listening brothers who preferred not to mention his name. He asks a question, saying: I am a young, unmarried man. In the early part of my youth, I would pray for a period, then leave off the prayer. Praise be to Allah, I have now repented to Allah alone. I do not leave off the prayer, and I am consistent with it at its times. Do I have to make up what I missed during that period I mentioned to you, or what is the guidance?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Praise be to Allah who has granted you the blessing of repentance. This is one of Allah’s great blessings. So you must thank Allah for it, adhere to repentance, and remain steadfast upon it.
As for what was missed in some of the prayers that you left off, there is no making up of them, according to the correct view. This is because leaving off the prayer, even out of laziness, is major shirk (associating partners with Allah) according to the correct view. So if the servant repents from that and returns to Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), that is sufficient for him. Praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
