Among the Causes of Steadfastness on the Truth

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: Sometimes a person is holding fast to his religion and fulfilling his obligations in the best way, but then a time comes when he turns away from everything without any reason. What is your guidance? May Allah reward you with good. What is the reason? We ask that Allah grant us and you success.

Answer:
It is prescribed for the believer, always, to be humble before Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) and to supplicate to Him, the Exalted, asking Him to make him steadfast on the truth, to grant him beneficial knowledge, righteous deeds, and understanding of the religion. This is what the believer should always do: ask his Lord for steadfastness on the truth. He should say: “O Turner of hearts, make my heart steadfast upon Your religion. O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness on the truth. O Allah, guide me to be upright on the truth. O Allah, rectify my heart and my deeds. O Allah, make my ending good.” He should also increase in the remembrance of Allah in his night and day. This is among the causes of steadfastness on the truth, because turning away from the truth is due to the greatest of causes, which is heedlessness and turning away, or the company of the wicked. As for the one who increases in the remembrance of Allah, adheres to the truth, and keeps the company of the righteous, the Sunnah of Allah for such a person is success, guidance, and steadfastness.
So you, O questioner, should increase in the remembrance of Allah and in the good supplications that Allah will make you steadfast on the truth and guide you to His straight path. You should also increase in reading the Noble Qur'an, and you should also keep the company of the righteous. All of this is among the causes of steadfastness on the truth.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
