Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {abiding therein forever, except as your Lord wills}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a questioner from Riyadh who says: In the noble verse, when Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) spoke about the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire, He said:
wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah willsخَالِدِينَ فِيهَا إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ
[Al-An'am: 128]?

Answer:
Some scholars interpreted this as referring to the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection), meaning:
except for what Allah willsإِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ
[Al-An'am 6:128]
meaning: the barzakh, or their standing in the Place of Standing on the Day of Resurrection before entering Paradise and the Fire. This is the place of divine will. Otherwise, the people of Paradise, once they enter it, will settle in it forever, and likewise the people of the Fire, the disbelievers, will settle in it forever. Only the people of sins will be taken out of it; when some of the people of sins enter it, they will be taken out after purification and refinement. Allah will take them out of the Fire into Paradise. As for the disbelievers, they will remain in it forever.
As for His saying (Exalted and Majestic is He):
[They will be] abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should willخَالِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَوَاتُ وَالأَرْضُ إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ
[Hud: 107], this means the duration of their existence in the barzakh, or in the Place of Standing on the Day of Resurrection before they are sent to Paradise and the Fire, in the Place of Standing during the time of reckoning and recompense, the time of reckoning and looking at their books. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
