A questioner inquires about the noble verse: “As for those who have failed, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is a sighing and a gasping. They will abide therein as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except for what your Lord wills. Indeed, your Lord is the Doer of what He wills.”

The questioner : He inquires about the noble verse in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(106) As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling. (107) [They will be] abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will. Indeed, your Lord is an effecter of what He intends.
[Hud 11:106-107]

The Shaykh : The meaning of the noble verse is that Allah the Exalted divided the people on the Day of Resurrection into two groups. Allah the Exalted said:
That is a Day for which the people will be collected, and that is a Day [which will be] witnessed. (104) And We do not delay it except for a limited term. (105) The Day it comes no soul will speak except by His permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous. (108) And as for those who were [destined to be] prosperous, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will - a bestowal uninterrupted.
[Hud 11:103-108]
The meaning of the verse is that these who have failed, who are the disbelievers, will be eternally abiding in the Fire of Hell, with eternal abiding, as Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said in Surat al-Nisa:
(168) Indeed, those who disbelieve and commit wrong [or injustice] - never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a path. (169) Except the path of Hell; they will abide therein forever. And that, for Allah, is [always] easy.
[An-Nisa 4:168-169]
And His saying in Surat al-Ahzab:
(64) Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze. (65) Abiding therein forever, they will not find a protector or a helper.
[Al-Ahzab 33:64-65]
And He said in Surat al-Jinn:
But [I have for you] only notification from Allah, and His messages." And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger - then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.
[Al-Jinn 72:23]
And His saying:
except what your Lord should will إلا ما شاء ربك
[Hud 11:107]
As for the people of the Fire, they will be eternally abiding in it with eternal abiding. As for His saying:
Indeed, your Lord is an effecter of what He intends.
[Hud 11:107]
it is like an answer to a question that is asked: Why did Allah the Exalted punish the people of the Fire with eternal abiding in it? He said: Indeed, your Lord is the Doer of what He wills, so no one can turn back His command, and He is not asked about what He does.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
