Question:
She says about herself: I am a girl who is sixteen years old, and I want to wear the niqab, but my family does not agree and they tell me: I am still...
The Shaykh: Repeat.
The presenter: She says: I am a girl who is sixteen years old, and I want to wear the niqab, but my family does not agree, and they tell me: I am still too young for that. What is your opinion? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
It is obligatory for you to wear the niqab and to veil yourself from non-mahram men, even if your family refuses this. You have no obedience to them in this matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani) And what is known to be right is what Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) has prescribed and made permissible. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Mishkat al-Masabih 3696.
So it is obligatory for you to cover yourself and veil yourself from non-mahram men, such as your husband’s brother, or his uncle, or neighbors who are not mahram to you, and others. Every man who is not a mahram to you; you must veil yourself from him, even if your family refuses that. No, you are not allowed to obey them in this.
And it is obligatory for them to help you in good and in veiling. This is what is obligatory for them; because Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Ma'idah: 2] And He the Exalted says: [Al-Asr: 1-3] So it is obligatory to advise one another to truth, and advising one another to veiling is part of advising one another to truth. And He the Exalted says: [Al-Tawbah: 71], and commanding veiling is enjoining what is right, and forbidding veiling is forbidding what is wrong.
So we advise you to cover yourself and veil yourself, and to disobey your family in this, even if you were less than sixteen. When a woman menstruates, even if she is ten or nine years old; she becomes a woman who must veil herself, even if she is nine, or ten, or eleven, or similar to that. As for a girl of sixteen, she is a mature woman, she has reached the age of maturity, and it may be that menstruation has come to her before that.
So the conclusion is: a girl of sixteen years is a mature woman, she must veil herself, she must lower her gaze, and she must stay away from the causes of fitnah. We ask Allah for success and guidance for us, for you, and for your family.
The presenter: O Allah, amen.

Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”
So it is obligatory for you to cover yourself and veil yourself from non-mahram men, such as your husband’s brother, or his uncle, or neighbors who are not mahram to you, and others. cooperate in righteousness and piety
(1) By time, (2) Indeed, mankind is in loss, (3) Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong
So we advise you to cover yourself and veil yourself, and to disobey your family in this, even if you were less than sixteen.
