This is a recommended practice, yes. He places his hand over his mouth during the prayer, and also outside of the prayer. He does not say "haah"; he suppresses his voice, he holds his mouth shut, he places his hand over his mouth, yes.

The Shaykh: Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If one of you yawns, let him suppress it as much as he can, and let him not say "haah," for Satan enters his mouth.إذا تثاءب أحدكم؛ فليكظم ما استطاع، ولا يقول: هاه، فإن الشيطان يدخل في فيه
And in another hadith he said:
When anyone of you yawns, let him put his hand over his mouthإذا تثاءب أحدكم؛ فليضع يده على فيه، ولا يقل: هاه، فإن الشيطان يدخل
