Question:
The questioner says regarding an important issue: “May Your Eminence, I arrived from my country to perform 'Umrah, and I performed it. Then I went to Madinah for visitation, and I stayed in Madinah seeking a livelihood for several months. Then the time for Hajj came, and I want to perform Hajj. What is the ruling on my situation, especially since I came only for 'Umrah and visitation? May Allah reward you with good?”
Answer:
Praise be to Allah. You should perform Hajj from Madinah. Praise be to Allah; this is a favor from Allah upon you, that He has made Hajj easy for you. You enter the state of ihram for Hajj from the miqat of Madinah. Praise be to Allah. If you perform a second 'Umrah from the miqat of Madinah, and then on the eighth day of Dhul-Hijjah you recite the talbiyah for Hajj with the people, that is better, and you will be a mutamatti'. Upon you is the blood of a single sacrificial animal, which you slaughter on the Day of Sacrifice, or on the days of the festival, or one-seventh of a camel, or one-seventh of a cow. This is the obligatory duty of the mutamatti'.
If you enter the state of ihram for an ifrad Hajj, there is nothing wrong with it, but it is better for you to enter the state of ihram for 'Umrah. This is the Sunnah. You circumambulate, you walk between al-Safa and al-Marwah, you shorten your hair, and you exit the state of ihram. Then on the eighth day, when going to Mina, you recite the talbiyah for Hajj. This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided his Companions to when they came from Madinah during the Farewell Pilgrimage. He ordered them to exit the state of ihram and make it an 'Umrah, except for whoever had sacrificial animals with him, or whoever brought sacrificial animals from Madinah or from the road; such a person remains in his state of ihram. As for the one who recited the talbiyah for Hajj, or for both Hajj and 'Umrah together, and did not have sacrificial animals with him, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to exit the state of ihram by circumambulation, walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah, and shortening the hair, and to make it an 'Umrah, and then to recite the talbiyah for Hajj on the eighth day. And they did so (may Allah be pleased with them). Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
