Ruling on raising the hands in supplication during the Friday sermon

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Mahmoud al-Quraylah from Jordan, says: Your Eminence, the Shaykh! I would like to ask about the Friday sermon. If the khatib says, “Say: There is no god but Allah,” do we do that? Or is this not permissible? And do we raise our hands when saying “Ameen” to the khatib’s supplication? Because the imam of the mosque rebukes those who raise their hands when saying “Ameen” to the supplication.

Answer:
If he says, “Say: There is no god but Allah,” or “Send blessings upon the Messenger of Allah,” yes, one should remember Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet, but without raising one’s voice, without disturbing those around one, with a low voice, sending blessings upon the Messenger and remembering Allah with a low voice.
But one does not raise the hands, neither the imam nor the one praying behind him; they do not raise their hands. This is only in the prayer for rain; if one seeks rain, asks for rain, one raises one’s hands, and the congregation raises their hands.
As for the ordinary Friday sermon, if he supplicates in it, he does not raise his hands, and the congregation does not raise their hands; none of them raise them, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise his hands except in the prayer for rain. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
