The Ruling on a Woman Traveling Without a Mahram

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: "My esteemed Shaykh, I am a student, and I must travel to my family every six months. However, I go to them without a mahram. I know the ruling on this, may Allah forgive me and you, but my family forces me and insists on my traveling. What should I do, may Allah have mercy on you? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good. And what is the ruling if I am with a group of girls? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good."

Answer:
A woman is not permitted to travel except with a mahram, and there is no obedience to any creation in disobedience to the Creator. Whoever orders you to travel without a mahram, whether a father, mother, brother, or otherwise, you do not obey him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالق
Mishkat al-Masabih 3696
(Glorified and Exalted is He), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A woman should not travel except with a mahramلا تسافر امرأة إلا مع ذي محرم
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 9:2565
It is agreed upon that it is authentic. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
