The Ruling on a Woman Going Out or Traveling Without a Mahram

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible for a woman to travel by plane, or otherwise, without a mahram, or to take her to school, or to the market, with someone who is not her mahram? And if it is not permissible, what do you advise those who do so, as this has become widespread among many Muslims out of negligence... enemies of Islam?

Answer:
As for a woman traveling without a mahram, this is not permissible. The Lawgiver has explicitly stated this, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explicitly forbade it. He said in an authentic hadith:
A woman should not travel except with a Dhu-Mahramلا تسافر المرأة إلا مع ذي محرم
Sahih al-Bukhari 1862
When a man informed him that his wife had gone out for Hajj, and he had signed up for one of the expeditions, he said to him:
Go back and perform Hajj with your wife.ارجع فحج مع امرأتك
Sahih al-Bukhari 3061
He returned him from the expedition and ordered him to go with his wife for Hajj.

The intended meaning : The point is that her traveling without a mahram is not permissible, neither by plane, nor by car, nor by train, nor by any other means. As for her ordinary going out from her house to school, or to the market, or to such and such, or to such and such, likewise it is not permissible for her to be alone with a non-mahram.
But if the mahram is not with her, and there is someone other than the mahram with her; for the sake of removing seclusion, meaning if she has a mahram with her; that is good, and if that is not feasible; it is sufficient that there be with her someone who is trustworthy, and with whom seclusion is removed. So if she goes out with the driver, and the driver’s wife, or with another woman from the house, or another man who provides reassurance; this removes the seclusion; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The third of the two is Shaytanفثالثهما الشيطان
So if a third person is with them; the seclusion is removed; and because the need for this matter is pressing, and it is not easy for the mahram to be with her in every outing of her outings, so what is sufficient is what brings about reassurance, and the removal of seclusion.
