The ruling on adding (He gives life and death) to the transmitted dhikr

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the authenticity of the saying:
He gives life and causes death.يحيي ويميت

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say this. Now, he would sometimes say it and sometimes leave it out; the matter is broad. If one says:
There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belong the Kingdom and praise, and He has power over everythingلا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
Muwatta Malik 20:131
there is no harm. If one adds and says:
He gives life and causes death.يحيي ويميت
there is no harm. If one adds:
In His hand is all good.بيده الخير
there is no harm. If one adds: and He is
He gives life and does not dieحي لا يموت
there is no harm. The matter is broad, for all of these came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So the matter in this is broad, and praise be to Allah.
There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belong the Kingdom and praise, and He has power over everythingلا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
Muwatta Malik 20:131
, after the taslim, when one says: I seek forgiveness of Allah, I seek forgiveness of Allah, I seek forgiveness of Allah. O Allah, You are Peace and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor. If one adds:
He gives life and causes death.يحيي ويميت
there is no blame. And one recites this dhikr ten times after Maghrib and after Fajr, and adds to it
He gives life and causes death.يحيي ويميت
; because hadiths have also come regarding it.
So the point is: the matter is broad. If one recites them or omits them, the matter is broad, and praise be to Allah. All of these came in the texts. So
He gives life and causes death.يحيي ويميت
came, and
In His hand is all good.بيده الخير
came, and the addition of:
and He is Living and does not dieوهو حي لا يموت
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3429Da’if (Darussalam)
all of this is good, and praise be to Allah.

The presenter: May Allah reward you and bless you, may the Shaykh be respected.
