Explanation of the words of Ibn Malik (may Allah have mercy on him): "And fa'ili in fa'ilah is to be observed *** And fu'ali in fu'aylah is to be made obligatory."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then the author said:
"And fa'ili in fa'ilah is to be observed"
And what is obtained from the original fa'il to which fa'ilah is attributed, we ask: what do we say regarding the attribution to it?
The student: Fa'ili.

The Shaykh : Huh? Fa'ili, a newspaper?
The student: Jaridi.

The Shaykh : Jaridi, a magazine?
The student: Sahfi.

The Shaykh : Sahfi, correct. And what is obtained? If we had kept the letters of the word to which the attribution is made as they are, what would we say regarding the attribution to a magazine?
The student: Sahifi.

The Shaykh : Sahfi, and regarding a newspaper?
The student: Jaridi.

The Shaykh : And regarding a seedling?
The student: Gharsi.

The Shaykh : Gharsi, and regarding a stranger?
The student: Gharibi.

The Shaykh : Gharibi, so Gharibi is wrong. What is the correct form?
The student: Gharbi.

The Shaykh : Gharbi, and regarding a creed?
The student: 'Aqidi.

The Shaykh : 'Aqidi, we do not say 'Aqidi for a creed, we do not say that. We say: 'Aqidi, because the yā of fa'ilah is deleted, its yā is deleted and its 'ayn is deleted. Whenever we attribute to fa'ilah, we say fa'ili. For this reason, he said:
"And fa'ili in fa'ilah is to be observed"
If we had said: a magazine is Sahifi, a newspaper is Jaridi, and a creed is 'Aqidi...
"And fu'ali in fu'aylah is to be made obligatory"
And fu'ali, fu'ali in fa'ilah?
The student: Hutim.

The Shaykh : Hutim. If a word comes in the pattern of fu'aylah, and when we attribute to it, it is necessary to delete the yā. So, if we want to attribute to 'Unayzah, do we say 'Unazi or 'Unayzi? We do not say 'Unayzi, we say 'Unazi. And regarding Buraydah?
The student: Buradi.

The Shaykh : Buradi, and we do not say Buraydi. And regarding Tuhaymah? Tuhaymi or Tuhaymi? Huh?
The student: Tuhaymi.

The Shaykh : Tuhaymi, and on this basis, analogize. So, what is the attribution to fu'aylah?
The student: Fu'ali.

The Shaykh : Fu'ali, says the author.
