What is the ruling on publishing magazines that feature women unveiled and in a seductive manner, and that focus on the news of actors and actresses? And what is the ruling on the one who works in such a magazine, the one who helps distribute it, and the one who buys it?
A: It is not permissible to publish magazines or newspapers that include the publication of women's images, or that call for unlawful sexual intercourse, lewd acts, sodomy, or drinking intoxicants, or the like of what calls for falsehood and aids in it. It is also not permissible to work in such magazines, whether by writing or by promotion, because of the cooperation in sin and transgression involved in it, the spreading of corruption on earth, and the calling to corrupt society and spread vices. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said in His clear Book: [Al-Ma'idah: 2]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 4609Sahih (Al-Albani), narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Sahih Muslim 2128, narrated by Muslim in his Sahih as well. The verses and hadiths in this meaning are numerous.
We ask Allah to guide the Muslims to what is in their well-being and salvation, and to guide those in charge of media and press affairs to everything that ensures the safety and salvation of society, and to protect them from the evils of their own souls and from the schemes of Satan. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful.

وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِIf anyone summons other to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without their rewards being diminished in any respect on that account; and if anyone summons others to follow error the sin of which sins being diminished in any respect on that account.
من دعا إلى هدى كان له من الأجر مثل أجور من تبعه، لا ينقص ذلكك من أجورهم شيئا، ومن دعا إلى ضلالة كان عليه من الإثم مثل آثام من تبعه، لا ينقص ذلك من آثامهم شيئاTwo are the types of the denizens of Hell whom I did not see: people having flogs like the tails of the ox with them and they would be beating people, and the women who would be dressed but appear to be naked, who would be inclined (to evil) and make their husbands incline towards it. Their heads would be like the humps of the bukht camel inclined to one side. They will not enter Paradise and they would not smell its odour whereas its odour would be smelt from such and such distance.
صنفان من أهل النار لم أرهما: رجالل بأيديهم سياط كأذناب البقر يضربون بها الناس، ونساء كاسيات عاريات مائلات مميلات رءوسهنن كأسنمة البخت المائلة، لا يدخلن الجنة ولا يجدن ريحها وإن ريحها ليوجد من مسيرة كذا وكذاWe ask Allah to guide the Muslims to what is in their well-being and salvation, and to guide those in charge of media and press affairs to everything that ensures the safety and salvation of society, and to protect them from the evils of their own souls and from the schemes of Satan.
