The Danger of Obscene Magazines and the Duty Toward Them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
There are obscene magazines that have spread among the youth, carrying advertisements for tobacco, offering enticing prizes, and promoting obscenity and debauchery. Is there any barrier, deterrent, or sincere oversight other than the current oversight?

Answer:
This is obligatory. Since these things exist, writers must write and denounce them, scholars must convey the message, and anyone who finds something must also report it. This is because a scholar or a writer may overlook something or miss it. Therefore, whoever sees something should write about it. If he does not see that it has been denounced or clarified, he should write to the scholars and remind them so that they denounce it. This will ensure cooperation between the scholar and the student, among the Muslims, and with the state as well.
Cooperation is obligatory between the state, the scholars, and the prominent Muslims in every place in this country and elsewhere. It is not permissible to remain silent ever. People are in a good state as long as they cooperate, write, and advise one another. However, if they remain silent, that is the hallmark of evil and calamity—may Allah protect us from it.
