One who persists in sin should not be kept company
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I am a young man, and praise be to Allah, I am careful to maintain the five daily prayers and I love to perform them in the mosque. However, my problem is that I have a friend who is careful to maintain his prayer, but he listens to songs, his garment hangs below his ankles, and there are enlarged pictures hanging in his house. When I told him that all of this is forbidden, he said that Allah forgives everything except associating partners with Him . So what should I do with him? He knows that these things are forbidden, and he has read the books that prove it. What is the ruling on one who sees an evil and does not advise his brother? I ask for your guidance. May Allah reward you with good.

A: It is not befitting to keep the company of such a man because of his persistence in sins and his open declaration of them. He has no argument in the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Nisa: 116], for it is not permissible for a servant to commit sins while relying on this verse as an excuse. He may be among those for whom Allah does not will forgiveness, and he may be punished by being deprived of forgiveness and by the hardening of his heart; due to his persistence, his transgression, his negligence, and his disobedience to the command of his Lord, who commanded him to leave sins and perform what is obligatory.
And it is obligatory upon the Muslim to advise his brother if he sees from him something wrong, even if he knows that the brother knows it is wrong, in accordance with the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) : [Al-Ma'idah: 2] and His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He) : [At-Tawbah 9:71] the verse [Al-Tawbah: 71] and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): It was asked, "For whom, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: Sahih Muslim 55a and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 49a narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. And success is from Allah.

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills

لله ولكتابه ولرسوله ولأئمة المسلمين وعامتهمHe who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith.
من رأى منكم منكرا فليغيره بيده، فإن لم يستطع فبلسانه، فإن لم يستطع فبقلبه، وذلك أضعف الإيمان
