The son's persistence in disobeying Allah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The ninth question of Fatwa No. ( 4172 )
Q9: A man has a son whom he taught the teachings of the religion until he reached maturity, but the son refused to apply the rulings of Islam. His father disciplined him with wisdom and kind words, and bought him everything he wanted from what is lawful, so that he would fulfill what Allah has made obligatory upon His servants. However, he was unable to reform him, and the son did not return to the religion. What is required of this father in that case?
A9: He should continue to reform him, make du'a' for him, and give him much advice, perhaps Allah will guide him. The father earns reward for that. Allah the Exalted said:[At-Talaq 65:5] If the son persists in disobeying Allah, he should expel him from his house. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

and whoever fears Allah - He will remove for him his misdeeds and make great for him his reward.
