Persistence in Sin

The third question of Fatwa No. ( 6935 )
Q3: What is the meaning of persistence in sin ? And if a Muslim commits a sin, then repents from it, then returns to it, then repents again, and so on, driven by desire and weakness, is he considered one who persists in sin?
A3: Persistence is the determination to continue in sin. However, if one commits a sin, then repents with sincere repentance, then his self overpowers him and he returns to it, then he repents with sincere repentance again, and returns to it, and so on, he is not considered one who persists in sin. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
