Ruling on Participating in the Purchase of Food and Eating with a Seller of Intoxicants

The brother questioner says in his message: It is well known that intoxicants are forbidden, and consequently, their price is forbidden. I have a neighbor who sells them, and we participate with him in purchasing food, where each of us pays his share and we all eat together. What is the ruling on my eating with him, given that his only source of income is selling intoxicants? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: You should separate yourself from this participation as long as he persists in selling the forbidden intoxicants, which are his source of income. You should separate yourself from him and not mix with him, because mixing with him encourages him in this forbidden act, and you are participating with him in this forbidden act. Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Ma'idah: 2].
So my advice to you is to distance yourself from this participation, and to advise your brother to abandon the intoxicants and their trade, and to seek another means and another trade from what Allah has made lawful. May Allah guide everyone to that which brings Him pleasure.
