The Ruling on Reciting the Qur'an in a Group

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message was sent to the program from the Muslim community at the 'Umar al-Farouq Mosque in the Netherlands, containing the following question: What is the opinion of the religion regarding reciting the Qur'an in a group after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers, where some of the brothers told us that it is a religious innovation? Please inform us, may Allah reward you?
Answer: Reciting the Noble Qur'an is among the acts of worship that Allah prescribed for His servants and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) explained it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the Qur'an and his Companions would listen, so that they would benefit from what he said to them and what he explained to them (peace and blessings be upon him). He would sometimes order some of his Companions to recite the Qur'an while he listened (peace and blessings be upon him). It was not part of his Sunnah, nor the Sunnah of his Companions and their method, for them to recite the Qur'an all together with one voice. This is not from their Sunnah, and this is not from his action (peace and blessings be upon him).
So those who said: It is a religious innovation, they are correct; because this has no basis.
But the scholars mentioned that this, with young children and students, on the path of teaching, so that their tongues become correct, is excused in the path of teaching... with the children who are learning in schools, if the teacher sees them speaking all together so that the voice becomes balanced and so that the recitation becomes correct from the young children in the matter of learning, then we hope there is no harm in it; because of the care for teaching and the eagerness for the correctness of the voices and the beauty of the performance.
As for among people in reciting in the mosques or other than the mosques, in the morning or in the evening or in any place where they recite the Qur'an all together, then we do not know a basis for it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملًا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
So my advice is that it not be done.
