The ruling on reciting the Qur'an for one who does not master its recitation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
From the brothers Ahmad Ibrahim Ali Abu al-Sa'ud, 'Abd al-Qadir al-Sawi, and Sa'id Fahim Qutb, they sent asking this question: Is it valid for a man who is weak in recitation to recite the Qur'an, or is that forbidden for him?
Answer: It is prescribed for him to recite the Qur'an even if he is weak in recitation and even if he stumbles in it. It is prescribed for the Muslim to take care of the Qur'an, to read it and learn it, even if he stumbles. For whenever he persists in recitation, his recitation will improve little by little. It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 798a This is a great matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that he has two rewards. He benefits in the recitation because he strives, so he has a reward for his recitation and a reward for his effort and striving in it.
So it is prescribed for every Muslim man and woman to take care of the Qur'an and to increase in its recitation, even with stumbling, until the recitation becomes correct. One learns and reads to his brother, to his father, to his companion, or to whoever from the people of the Qur'an is available to guide him and help him. The woman likewise reads to her sister if she is more knowledgeable than her, or to her mother if she is more knowledgeable than her, or to her father, or to her husband, or to her brother. She reads, or she has a female teacher whom she requests or goes to, in a correct manner, until she learns. Even if she stumbles, the stumbling will disappear with continued recitation. Yes.
