The Ruling on a Religious Woman Listening to Songs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question in the letter from the sister Istibraq says: I fulfill my religious duties, including prayer, fasting, and reading the Qur'an, with complete sincerity. However, I listen to emotional songs that do not mention intoxicants or similar forbidden things. Is this permissible for me? Please advise us; may Allah reward you.
Answer: May Allah keep you steadfast upon good, and we ask Allah for you an increase in good. However, we advise you not to listen to songs at all; for they are evil and they lead to great corruption in the hearts. We advise you to listen to the Qur'an radio, for it contains great good, and to listen to *Nur 'ala al-Darb* and to listen to beneficial and useful hadiths. As for listening to songs, leave them and beware of them; for their evil is great. And Allah the Exalted said:
And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allahوَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ
[Luqman:6]. Most of the scholars said: "Lahw al-hadith (frivolous talk) is singing." And 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Singing causes hypocrisy to grow in the heart just as water causes grass to grow." And this 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud is from the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and from their scholars. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful.ليكونن من أمتي أقوام يستحلون الحر والحرير والخمر والمعازف
Sahih al-Bukhari 5590
.
So he informed that there will be people in the end times who will consider musical instruments, which are entertainments and songs, to be permissible. We ask Allah to protect us and you from that. Yes.
