The ruling on the festival and Friday prayers for one who works in the desert
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message reached the program from the Libyan Jamahiriya, and its sender is the listener: Muhammad Ali Shu'ban. Our brother Muhammad says in one of his questions: We work in one of the oil fields in the desert. We have a mosque inside the field. The field has only one gate. The nearest area to it is about forty kilometers away. There is no one residing inside the field or outside it with their family for the entire duration that any of us spends in the field. The most we spend in the field is forty days. We do not have a designated imam. Our question is: Are the festival prayer and the Friday prayer valid in this mosque?
May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
As long as the situation is as the questioner described, you are not required to perform the Friday prayer or the festival prayer; because you are not residents, rather you stay for forty days, then you return to your families. So in this situation, you are like the inhabitants of the desert. You pray the midday prayer as four units, and the afternoon prayer as four units, and so on. You are not required to perform the Friday prayer, as long as the matter is as you mentioned: there are no residents, rather they are workers who work for a maximum of forty days, then they return to their families, and others come.
So you must perform the five daily prayers in congregation. Your best and most proficient reciter among you should lead you. If you choose one to lead you who is your most proficient reciter, that is more preferable and better. You are not required to perform the Friday prayer or the festival prayer. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
