Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {And We guided him to the two paths}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I ask about the exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And We guided him to the two paths
[Al-Balad:10]. What is meant by the two paths?

Answer:
The two paths; what is meant is the two paths:
The path of good and the path of evil.
This is what is meant by the two paths, the two roads; for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) made clear to His servants the two paths: the path of evil, meaning shirk (associating partners with Allah) and sins, and He forbade them from it, and He made clear to them the path of good... tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and acts of obedience, and He called them to it through the messengers and in the revealed books, from the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, the Qur'an, and others.
And guidance here means: indication, as Allah the Exalted said:
And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance
[Fussilat:17], meaning: We guided them and clarified the truth for them with its evidence. And from this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And indeed you...
addressing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) Muhammad
And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path - (53) The path of Allah
[Al-Shura:53], meaning: you guide and indicate.
As for the guidance whose meaning is success in accepting the truth and being pleased with it, this is in the hand of Allah ; it is not attained by man and is not in the hand of man. It is what is meant in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Not upon you, [O Muhammad], is [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills.
[Al-Baqarah:272], meaning: it is not upon you to grant them success or to put faith in their hearts; that is for Allah . And from this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills
[Al-Qasas:56], meaning: you cannot do that, but this is for Allah .
And as for indication, conveying, and clarification, this is in the hand of the messengers and their followers, and it is attainable. It is what is meant in the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
And We guided him to the two paths
[Al-Balad:10], meaning: We guided him and directed him. And it is also what is meant in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance
[Fussilat:17], meaning: We guided them. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
