I prayed the last two units of the midday prayer with the congregation. Should I complete the remaining two units with al-Fatihah and a surah after it, or with al-Fatihah only?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I prayed the last two units of the midday prayer with the congregation. Should I complete the remaining two units with al-Fatihah and a surah after it, or with al-Fatihah only?

The Shaykh : Complete the remainder with al-Fatihah only, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
and pray whatever you get (with the people) and complete the rest which you have missed ما أدركتم فصلوا وما فاتكم فأتموا
Sahih al-Bukhari 635
. He made what was missed a completion, and this is the logical approach regarding order, for what a person catches is the beginning of his prayer. Therefore, if you catch the imam in the last two units and you are able to recite al-Fatihah and a surah, do so, because these two units are the first two units for you, the one who joined late.
