If You Catch the Imam in the Second Rak'ah of the 'Isha' Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If I catch the imam in the second rak'ah of the 'Isha' prayer, do I make up this rak'ah by reciting al-Fatihah and a surah aloud, considering it my first rak'ah, or do I make it up by reciting al-Fatihah silently?

The Shaykh : The correct view is that the one who joins the prayer late (masbuq) makes up what he missed as if it were the last part of his prayer, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
and pray whatever you get (with the people) and complete the rest which you have missed ما أدركتم فصلوا وما فاتكم فأتموا
Sahih al-Bukhari 635
And completing a thing occurs at the end of the thing. Accordingly, if you catch the imam in the second rak'ah of the 'Isha' prayer, you have caught three rak'ahs with the imam. When you stand to make up the remainder, which is one rak'ah, you limit yourself to reciting al-Fatihah only, and your recitation is silent, because this rak'ah is the last of your rak'ahs. Yes.

The questioner : The listener, E.E.M. from the Arab Republic of Egypt, Matrouh Governorate, says in this question.
