The Ruling on One Who Kills Himself
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener: Sa'id Muhammad Ali Sa'id asks and says: What is the ruling on one who kills himself by suicide out of fear that a defect or an overwhelming problem will be exposed?
Answer:
This is a great evil, and his affair is left to Allah under His will, but it is a great and major sin. Suicide is among the major sins, and the sinner, if he dies upon his sin, his affair is left to Allah under His will. As Allah the Exalted said when He mentioned shirk (associating partners with Allah), He said after it: [al-Nisa: 48].
The people of the Sunnah and the community have agreed that the sinner, if he dies upon his sin without repenting, is under the will of Allah.
It is not said that he will be eternal in the Fire, nor that he is in the Fire, but rather he is under the will of Allah. If Allah wills, He will forgive him and pardon him, and if He wills, He will punish him in the Fire according to the magnitude of the sin upon which he died.
Then, after purification, he will come out of the Fire into Paradise. This is what the people of the Sunnah and the community say: the monotheist who has faith will not be eternal in the Fire. If he enters it due to a sin, he will be punished according to the magnitude of the sin, then Allah will take him out of the Fire into Paradise. This is the statement of the people of the Sunnah and the community regarding the sinners if they die upon their sin. Yes.
