The ruling on one who swears to abandon a sin and then returns to it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the last of this questioner’s questions, Umm Abdullah says: What is the ruling on one who swears by Allah and by the mushaf to abandon a sin and then returns to it? This is because he found no way to restrain himself from it, and he is now intending to repent. So what do you advise us to do, may Allah reward you?

Answer:
He must repent and pay the expiation for the oath. If he said, “By Allah, I will not commit unlawful sexual intercourse,” and then returned to committing unlawful sexual intercourse, he must repent, and he must pay the expiation for the oath: feeding ten poor people or clothing them, with each poor person receiving half a sa’ (a dry measure of about 3 kg), which is approximately one and a half kilograms, along with repentance. Yes.
