The Ruling and Amount of Zakah on Jewelry Intended for Adornment

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is there zakah on the gold that a woman uses, even if she does not have any wealth from which to pay it, given that she does not save from her monthly salary?

Answer:
The correct view is that there is zakah on it if it reaches the nisab. There is scholarly disagreement on this, and the correct view is that there is zakah on gold, whether it is used or not. Silver is the same; there is zakah on it for the man or woman who owns it if it reaches the nisab.
The nisab is twenty mithqals. In Saudi currency, this is eleven and a half Saudi pounds, or ninety-two grams. If it reaches this amount, it is obligatory to pay zakah on it, whether it is used or not, or whether it is all used or not.
As for diamonds and precious gems that are used, there is no zakah on them unless they are for trade.
