What is the advice for one who is afflicted with looking at women?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What do you advise me to do? I have been afflicted with looking at some of the forbidden things, such as glancing at a woman, whether in person, or through a magazine, or on television. Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good and keep you safe.

Answer:
Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has made His ruling in this matter clear, saying:
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.
[Al-Nur: 30]. So you should consider yourself among these people and strive against it. If you hope to be among the believers, then strive against it and do not look at women or young men with a look of desire, whether on television, in magazines, in the markets, or in anything else.
As for a passing glance that you do not intend for desire, or by chance, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said when asked about a sudden glance:
Avert your gazeاصرف بصرك
, and he said:
while you are not to blame for the first, you have no right to the secondإنَّ لك الأولى، وليست لك الأخرى
Sunan Abi Dawud 2149Hasan (Al-Albani)
. So if the thing was by chance and you did not intend it, there is no blame on you.
But if you intend it and continue looking, then no. And likewise with young boys, regarding whom desire may be aroused by looking at them; you should guard against that.
