What is the ruling on seeking refuge after yawning?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is well known among people is seeking refuge from Shaytan after yawning. Is there a basis for this in the Shari'ah? May Allah reward you with the best reward.

Answer:
Regarding seeking refuge in Allah from Shaytan after yawning, I do not know of anything that has come regarding it. However, since people knew that yawning is from Shaytan, they began to seek refuge from Shaytan when it occurs. This is because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The yawning as from the devil. So when one of you yawns he should try to restrain it as far as it lies in his power.
Sahih Muslim 2994
, and in the other wording:
Let him place his hand over his mouth, and let him not say "haah," for Shaytan enters into his mouth.
. So the Sunnah when one yawns is to suppress it as much as he can, and to place his hand over his mouth.
As for seeking refuge, I do not know of any evidence for it, except that it can be derived from the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Yawning is from Shaytan
. And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says:
And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah
[Al-A'raf: 200]. So I do not know of any harm in this. If one seeks refuge in Allah from Shaytan when the deeds of Shaytan are present, we do not know of any harm in that. However, I do not know of a narration specifically on this; rather, it is derived from the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Yawning is from Shaytan.
.
