What the one praying does if he yawns during the prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of the fatwa number ( 8864 )
Q2: What should a person do (say) if he yawns during the prayer? Should he move his head in the prayer to seek refuge from the accursed Shaytan, knowing that movement is prohibited in the prayer?
A2: It is not obligatory to seek refuge from the accursed Shaytan by moving one’s head, whether inside or outside the prayer. Rather, one should move one’s tongue and seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. However, we do not know of any evidence indicating the prescription of seeking refuge when yawning, neither in the prayer nor outside of it. Minor movement is excused in the prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
