Response to Those Who Say That Hijab Contradicts Customs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner asks, Your Eminence: We ask about the ruling on hijab for women, and what is obligatory for those who say that this is our custom which forbids and criticizes wearing the hijab?
So direct us in light of this question.

Answer:
It is obligatory for the woman to observe hijab from the non-mahram man, and she has no right to display her adornment to him; this is the obligation. This is based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathersوَلا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَائِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَاءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ
[Surat al-Nur: 31], the verse. The face, hair, and the rest of her body are part of the adornment. And based on His saying (Exalted and Majestic is He) in Surat al-Ahzab:
And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.
[Surat al-Ahzab: 53].
In the early days of Islam, it was permissible for the woman to uncover herself before the man. Then the verse of hijab was revealed, and women were prohibited from uncovering themselves. In the story of Aishah, when the people of the slander said what they said about her, she reported that when Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal saw her, he uttered a sigh of regret. When he saw her alone, the army had moved on and left her behind in her place. This was because the army, during one of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) expeditions, had gone to relieve themselves. Those who were to move her camel litter came and moved it, thinking she was still in it. When she came back and the army had already passed, she stayed in her place and slept, saying, "They will miss her and return." Safwan al-Mu'attal was at the rear of the army. When he saw her, he uttered a sigh of regret. She said, "When I heard his sigh, I woke up and covered my face." She said, "He had seen me before the hijab, so he recognized that it was Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)."
This indicates that the woman was prohibited from uncovering herself after the hijab, after the verse of hijab was revealed, which prohibited women from uncovering themselves. Yes.
