Earning Reward by Listening to the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was sent to me by one of the female listeners, and they have a set of questions. In the first question: they ask about a blind woman—if she is listening to the Qur'an, does she receive the reward of the sighted reciter?

Answer:
Yes, the blind man, and the blind woman likewise; each of them receives the reward of the reciter if he or she listens. And so does the sighted person; the sighted person is a partner with the reciter, and the blind person is a partner with the reciter if he or she listens, pays attention, and seeks the face of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Each of them is a partner with the reciter in the reward. The reciter and the listener are partners in the reward, whether sighted or blind, male or female. Each of them is in a great state of goodness and has a great reward if they intend good and seek to listen to the Book of Allah and benefit from the speech of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). He or she is in a great state of goodness, whether male or female, whether blind or sighted, whether a blind woman or a sighted woman. The important thing is to intend the face of Allah with this listening, to intend benefit and profit from the speech of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. So the blind woman’s reward is like the sighted woman’s reward if she is listening?

The Shaykh: Yes, there is no difference in that.

The presenter: And whether the sighted woman is a reciter or a listener, the reward is the same?

The Shaykh: It appears to be the same. The important thing is listening, paying attention, and seeking good, with sincerity to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).

The presenter: May Allah bless you.
