How to Teach the Disabled and the Deaf Person Prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter reached the program from one of the female listeners. She says: Umm Yasser from Saudi Arabia. Our sister says: I have given birth to two disabled daughters, and they are sisters from the same father and mother. The first daughter is thirteen years old. She hears and sees, but she does not know how to speak, or how to pronounce her name, and she does not even know night from day. She studied for six years at the intellectual institute in Jeddah, and she did not benefit from anything, not even a single letter from the Noble Qur'an. So what do you advise us, O honorable Shaykh, especially regarding the matter of prayer? That is because she knows nothing about it, and I am perplexed with her while I am teaching her. Is there a sin on me if I leave her?
I hope you will guide me. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
If she understands through gestures, then teach her through gestures how to pray and how to purify herself. If she has no understanding, then the difficulty is removed in that case, and there is no obligation upon her in that case; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the authentic hadith:Sunan Ibn Majah 2041Hasan (Darussalam) So she is now between the two: either she understands, so teach her, even if through gestures, how to pray, how to perform wudu', how to clean herself after relieving herself. Teach her. If she learns, that is sufficient, and praise be to Allah. She prays with her heart even if she does not pronounce: [al-Taghabun: 16] And be kind to her, and be glad with good, and have mercy on her, and may Allah have mercy on you.
As for if she does not understand, does not comprehend gestures, and does not benefit, then there is nothing upon you, and the obligation is lifted from her, like the insane person and the like of him. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.
The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.

The Pen has been lifted from three : from the sleeping person until he awakens, from the minor until he grows up, and from the insane person until he comes to his senses.
رفع القلم عن ثلاثة: عن النائم حتى يستيقظ، وعن الصغير حتى يبلغ، وعن المعتوه حتى يفيقSo fear Allah as much as you are able
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْAs for if she does not understand, does not comprehend gestures, and does not benefit, then there is nothing upon you, and the obligation is lifted from her, like the insane person and the like of him. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.
