The Ruling on Sewing Exposing Clothing

Question:
A sister of ours from Libya, (Umm Kulthum S. S.), asks and says: She works in sewing, and she sews for people according to their tastes and desires. Some of them want modesty, and some of them want the exposing, scandalous kind. Does she commit a sin if she responds to the second type and gives them what they want or works for them according to their desires?

Answer:
Yes, yes. She commits a sin; because she is assisting in sin and transgression, and Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Ma'idah: 2], so she has no right to assist the woman whose modesty has gone, whose religion has become weak, and whose fear of Allah has diminished . She has no right to assist her in immorality and the causes of immorality. This exposing clothing is immorality, a great evil, a great calamity, and a means to great corruption. So she has no right to assist her in that, neither in sewing nor in cutting out the patterns, nor in speaking about it, nor in facilitating the matter. Rather, she must refrain from it, be strict in it, and warn against it.
The believing man and the believing woman, both of them, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Tawbah: 71]. This falls under this category, the category of enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong. She has no right to be lenient in this matter for the sake of greed for money. Rather, it is obligatory for her to warn about this matter and not to assist Muslims in disobedience. Yes.
