Question:
Your Eminence is asked to say: Explain to us the saying of the Truth, Blessed and Exalted is He:
Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge.إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ
[Fatir: 28]?

Answer:
This noble verse indicates the virtue of the scholars and that they are the people of the fear of Allah, meaning: complete fear, and at their head are the prophets and messengers (peace and blessings be upon them), who are the imams of the scholars, and they are the heads of the scholars and their imams. And every scholar of the Shari'ah of Allah is among their followers with excellence, if he is upright on the path, then he fears Allah more perfectly than others. And every believer fears Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and every believing woman likewise, but the scholar is more fearful and has more fear; because of what he has of knowledge of Allah, and of His attributes, and of His punishment and retribution, and of His honor and bestowal. So he is the most knowledgeable of people about Allah according to what Allah has given him of knowledge. So the scholars are the heirs of the prophets, and they are the most perfect of people in fear of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) after the prophets and messengers. And every believer has his share of the fear of Allah, and so does the believing woman. But the scholars of Allah, whom Allah has given knowledge and insight in His religion and uprightness upon it, are the most fearful of people of Allah after the prophets. Yes.
