The Rabbanian Scholars Are the People of His Fear, Glorified and Exalted is He

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
May Allah bless you. We will return to the rest of your questions, my brother Abu Ibrahim from Bahrain, in a future session, if Allah wills. We move on to a message from one of the brothers. Ahmad Hithal al-Dahin, our brother, asks for an explanation of the saying of the Truth, Blessed and Exalted is He: I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the expelled one:
Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge.إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ
[Fatiha: 28]?
Answer: This is a great verse, and it indicates that the scholars—those who are scholars of Allah, scholars of His religion, of His great Book, and of the Sunnah of His noble Messenger—are the most fearful of people of Allah, and they are the most complete of people in their fear of Allah. So the meaning of (only those who fear Allah) is: the complete fear. They are the scholars of Allah who have come to know their Lord by His names and attributes, Glorified and Exalted is He, and the greatness of His right. They have gained insight into His Shari'ah and have come to know what He has of bliss for those who fear Him, and what He has of punishment for those who disobey Him and contravene His command. So, due to the perfection of their knowledge of Allah and the perfection of their insight into His right, they are the most fearful of people of Allah. They are the most complete of people in their fear of Allah and their awe of Him, Glorified and Exalted is He. It does not mean that only the scholars fear Allah; no, every Muslim fears Allah. Every believing man and woman fears Allah. Every believer fears Allah, every believing woman fears Allah and is afraid of Allah. All Muslims fear Allah, but the fear varies; they are not all on the same level. The more insight a believer has in Allah and the more knowledge he has of Allah, the greater his fear of Allah.
And likewise, the more a believing woman knows of Allah, of His attributes, and of the greatness of His right, the more complete her fear of Allah and her awe of Him will be compared to others. And the less the knowledge and the less the insight, the less the fear of Allah and the less the awe of Him, Glorified and Exalted is He. People vary in this regard, even the scholars vary. The more upright a scholar is in the right of Allah, and the more he knows of Allah, of His religion, and of His names and attributes, the more complete his awe of Allah becomes. And the less the knowledge, the less the awe of Allah. But all believing men and women fear Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, according to their knowledge and their degrees in faith, whether little or much. For this reason, He, Exalted and Majestic is He, says:
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُوْلَئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ ۝
[Al-Bayyinah 98:7]
Their reward with their Lord is Gardens of Eden, with rivers flowing beneath them, to abide therein forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. That is for whoever fears his Lord. [Al-Bayyinah: 7-8].
And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, says:
Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward.إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَيْبِ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ
[Al-Mulk: 12]. So they are rewarded for their fear of Allah, even if they are not scholars, even if they are from the common people. But the perfection in fear is for the scholars, due to the perfection of their insight and the perfection of their knowledge of Allah. Their fear of Allah is greater. And with this, the meaning of the verse becomes clear, and its meaning is:
Only those fear Allahإِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ
[Fatiha: 28] means: the complete fear. The complete, great fear is only from the people of knowledge of Allah and the people of insight who have magnified Allah and magnified His right, and who have come to know His attributes and His names. So they are the most complete of people in their fear of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He. And the rest of the believing men and women are, according to their knowledge and their piety, in their fear of Allah and their awe of Him, Glorified and Exalted is He. Yes.
