Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from Iraq, Nineveh. It was sent by a brother of ours from there. He says: Your brother (T. A. 'A) asks and says: What does Your Eminence, the Shaykh, say about a Qur'an reciter who uses modes that are similar to the modes of singing, or rather are taken from them? Please inform us about this? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family, and upon his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
It is not permissible for a believer to recite the Qur'an with the melodies of singing or in the manner of singers. Rather, it is obligatory for him to recite it as our righteous predecessors, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed them in excellence, recited it. He should recite it in a measured, sorrowful, and humble manner, so that it affects the hearts of those who hear it, and so that he himself is affected by it. As for reciting it in the manner of singers and in their style, this is not permissible. Yes.
