The Time of the Fajr Rawatib: Before the Obligatory Prayer, for Performance and Making Up

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the Tunisian Republic, this is a message sent by our brother Muhammad al-Salih al-Ghaziri. Brother Muhammad asks three questions. In his first question, he says: Which should one pray first, the obligatory Fajr prayer or the Fajr Sunnah, if one is overcome by sleep after the sun has risen, knowing that the person is praying alone?

Answer:
If sleep overcomes a person and he does not wake up until after the sun has risen, he should begin with the Sunnah, the Fajr Sunnah, and then pray the obligatory prayer. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that on some of his journeys, he and his Companions slept through the Fajr prayer and did not wake up until the sun was high. When they woke up, he ordered them to move their mounts from their location and said:
Indeed, it is a place where Satan is presentإنه موطن حضرنا فيه الشيطان
He performed wudu, and he told them to perform wudu. He ordered Bilal to give the adhan, and he prayed the rawatib Sunnah, then he prayed the obligatory prayer (peace and blessings be upon him). This is the Sunnah: to begin with the two-rak'ah rawatib Sunnah, then pray the obligatory prayer.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
