The Legitimacy of Frequently Recalling Death and Preparing for It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner (H. M.) from Riyadh says: Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. The questioner says: I am always thinking about death and the grave, and whenever I feel any pain, I assume it is death. When I think about the grave, I cannot sleep until after a long period of thinking and intense fear. Is this the state of a believer who fears Allah and hopes for His mercy?

Answer:
Yes, this is the state of the believer. He fears Allah and watches Him, and he fears death and the punishment of the grave, so he prepares and does good deeds. If he strives in good, does righteous deeds, and restrains himself from sins, then let him be at ease and not occupy himself with whispers, neither in his sleep nor in his waking.
But as long as there are things he fears from sins, let him be cautious, let him remember death, and let him remember the punishment of the grave, so that he may use this to help restrain himself from sins and evils. If Allah guides him and he commits to it, he should abandon the whispers. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah preserve you.
