What is the ruling on women wearing tight pants?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The phenomenon of women wearing tight pants, which outline the shape of a woman's legs such that these pants are visible from beneath short abayas, has become widespread, and this occurs in markets and public places, causing fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) for men and vendors. What is your advice?

Answer:
It is not permissible for a woman to wear anything that causes fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), nor to wear anything that contradicts the dress of the people of her country, because this is the garment of fame (thawb al-shuhrah), and the garment of fame is forbidden. Therefore, she must not wear what makes her imitate men, or what exposes part of her 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), or what contradicts the dress of her country. Rather, she must be like the people of her country in their clothing, with modesty, and by being careful to avoid imitating men, whether in pants or other garments. She should wear the ordinary clothes that her country and her sisters in Allah are accustomed to. And Allah is the One to be sought for help.
