Ruling on Fasting on Friday to Make Up Missed Days

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man has days from Ramadan that he must make up. Is it permissible for him to fast these days distributed on every Friday, given that he has work on the other days?

Answer:
Making up Ramadan does not require consecutive days; it is permissible to spread them out. This applies to the days one owes from Ramadan, such as for one who traveled during Ramadan or was ill, leaving him with days to make up on separate days. However, choosing to fast them on Fridays is a matter of concern, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on Friday and said:
Do not single out Friday for fasting except by fasting the day before it and the day after it.لا تخصوا يوم الجمعة إلا بصوم يوم قبله، ويوم بعده
This applies to voluntary fasting, if we are fasting voluntarily.
But if he intends to fast them as an obligation, as a duty incumbent upon him because he is unable to fast on the other six days, or to make up Ramadan, this is a matter of concern. If he fasts on Friday, it suffices—if Allah wills—because he did not choose Friday for its virtue, but rather because he is free on that day. In the more apparent view, this is valid.
However, if it is easy for him to fast on a day other than Friday, or to fast a day before it along with Friday, that is better, in accordance with the apparent meaning of the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Because if it is possible for his fast to be on a day other than Friday if he fasts that day alone, that is better. And if he fasts a day with Friday, such as Saturday or Thursday, the dislike is removed and the doubt is removed.
