How to perform Hajj for a woman who experiences menstruation while at 'Arafah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message we received from the listener Maryam Falah Ahmad al-Barqan, in which she says: A girl went to perform the obligatory Hajj. Upon her arrival, after entering the state of ihram, and while she was standing on the Mount of 'Arafah, her menstruation began. What should she do? Is it permissible for her to continue, or should she stop performing the obligation, or return to her place of residence until the period ends and her Hajj is counted? Please help us, may Allah guide you, and thank you?
Answer: If a woman performs Hajj and menstruation begins for her while she is at 'Arafah, or if it begins for her while she is at Mina, or before ascending to Mina, or before ascending to 'Arafah, she should walk with the people and do what the pilgrims do, such as going to Mina, then to 'Arafah, and engaging in dhikr and supplication at 'Arafah. Then she should depart to Muzdalifah and remain there with the people, remembering Allah, glorifying Him, and making supplication. Then she should go out with the people to Mina, then stone the pillars with the people, and cut her hair with the people on the day of 'Id. She should exit her state of ihram wherever she pleases, cut her nails, and cut her hair if she wishes; there is no blame on her for this. The tawaf and sa'y remain obligatory for her. The tawaf and sa'y remain obligatory for her. When she becomes pure, she performs tawaf and sa'y, and her Hajj is completed. She achieves the final exit from ihram. That is called the first exit from ihram. When she stones the pillars and cuts her hair, she exits the first state of ihram, where it becomes permissible for her to use perfume, cut her nails and hair, and do similar things, and to wear the veil and similar items. When she performs tawaf and sa'y, she exits the state of ihram completely, and she becomes lawful to her husband thereafter. There is no blame on her in this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'A'ishah when she menstruated:Sahih al-Bukhari 1650. This is how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). She had come in a state of ihram, and when she came from Makkah, menstruation overtook her, and that was difficult for her. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: . When she became pure, she performed tawaf and sa'y, and he said to her: (peace and blessings be upon him). So women are like that thereafter. If a woman is overtaken by menstruation during 'Umrah, or during Hajj, then in Hajj she completes the acts of Hajj, except for tawaf and sa'y, which remain obligatory for her. In 'Umrah, she stands and does nothing. When she becomes pure, she performs tawaf and sa'y, cuts her hair, and exits the state of ihram. Yes.

Perform all the ceremonies of Hajj like the other pilgrims, but do not perform Tawaf of the Ka`ba till you get clean (from your menses).
افعلي ما يفعله الحاج، غير أن لا تطوفي بالبيت حتى تطهريYou are one of the daughters of Adam. He said: It is something Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. So leave the 'Umrah, enter the state of ihram for Hajj, and do what the pilgrims do, except that you do not perform tawaf around the House until you become pure
أنت من بنات آدم ، قال: شيء كتبه الله على بنات آدم ، فدعي العمرة، وأحرمي بالحج، وافعلي ما يفعله الحجاج، غير أن لا تطوفي بالبيت حتى تطهريThis is sufficient for your Hajj and your 'Umrah
هذا يكفيك لحجك وعمرتك
