The ruling on one who is afflicted with an illness that prevents him from fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message we received from the questioner Muhammad Ahmad Yusuf, a Sudanese resident in the Kingdom in Jizan. He says: I was suffering from a kidney disease, and the doctors excused me from fasting—like this—from fasting the month of Ramadan, and that has been for a period of time. I came to Saudi Arabia with the intention of seeking a livelihood, and that was in the year 1401 AH. I have not given charity for all these years and have not done anything in them. Please guide me to the right path, may Allah guide you?
Answer: If the doctors told you, O questioner, that fasting harms you forever, always, always, then you must feed a poor person for each day for the past and future years. If Ramadan comes to you, you break your fast and feed a poor person for each day, whether you combine that at the beginning of the month or at the end of the month. It is half a sa' of dates, or rice, or wheat. Whether you combine that and give it to some of the poor at the beginning of the month, or in the middle, or at the end, you combine it. Its amount is approximately one and a half kilograms. The amount of half a sa' is approximately one and a half kilograms of the food of your country, of rice, or wheat, or other than that of the staple food of your country. But if they did not say to you: one year, two years, four, five, and then you fast, then there is no blame on you for delaying the fasting. If Allah heals you and the time of permission comes, you fast what has passed, and there is no charity on you; because you are excused. And Allah the Exalted says:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[al-Baqarah:185].
I repeat the answer: If the doctors decided that you do not fast forever, because fasting harms you, then there is no fasting on you, and you must feed for what has passed and what is to come, half a sa' for each day, approximately one and a half kilograms of the staple food of your country, of dates, or rice, or other than that.
But if the doctors said: Do not fast these near years, two years... three... four, and then fast after that, then you delay the fasting until the time of permission comes, and then you fast, and there is no feeding on you, and praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
