The Ruling on Smoking and the Ruling on One Who Prays While It Is in His Pocket

Question: At the end of the letter, the brother Adh-Dhikra Muhammad says: What is the ruling on one who prays with tobacco in his pocket, whether he is unaware or intentional?
Answer: Tobacco is among the forbidden things that are harmful to humans, and it is among the impurities that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has forbidden, as are the rest of the intoxicants from all types of alcohol, due to the great harm in them and the destruction of minds. Likewise, qat, which is known in Yemen, is forbidden due to the many harms in it, and many scholars have explicitly stated its prohibition. Tobacco contains much impurity and much harm, so it is not permissible to smoke it, sell it, buy it, or trade in it. And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said in His great Book: [Al-Ma'idah: 4]. So Allah commanded His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to say to the people: [Al-Ma'idah: 4]. So Allah has not made the impurities lawful for us, and tobacco is not among the good things; rather, it is impure in taste and impure in smell, with great harm to humans. It is a cause of death by stroke, and a cause of many diseases, as mentioned by doctors, including cancer.
The point is that it is very harmful, impure, and forbidden to sell, buy, or trade in it. As for praying while it is in the pocket, it does not harm the prayer; the prayer is valid, because it is a plant and not ritually impure, but it is forbidden and reprehensible as mentioned before. However, if one prays while it is in his pocket intentionally or unaware, his prayer is valid, but he must be cautious of it and repent to Allah for what has passed of his use of it. May Allah grant the Muslims well-being from it and from all that angers Him (Glorified and Exalted is He).
And among what came in this meaning is His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He) in describing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): [Al-A'raf: 157]. So He (Glorified and Exalted is He) explicitly stated in this verse that our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbids the impurities for us, which are the opposite of the good things. The good things, Allah has made lawful for us and facilitated them for us as a favor from Him (Glorified and Exalted is He). The impurities include alcohol, carrion, pigs, dogs, and the like of what Allah has forbidden, and among that is tobacco and its like. These are impurities that Allah has forbidden upon His servants to purify them and protect them from what harms them. So praise be to Allah for that. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah bless you and reward you with good.
